To the Northlawn UMC Community -
In response to the new recommendations from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and in conjunction with a decision by Northlawn’s Administrative Board, masks are now OPTIONAL for all persons who have been VACCINATED against COVID-19. This includes both indoor and outdoor worship services, and on-site meetings and events. We suggest masks for indoor congregational singing as evidence on virus spread while singing is still being examined. We will continue to practice social distancing where possible and will foster an environment where all may comfortably socialize and worship.
Throughout the summer season we will worship in our beautiful north lawn at Northlawn, inviting all to come and worship outside in the midst of God's beauty. Worship will move indoors in case of inclement weather.
Northlawn UMC has followed the CDC’s recommendations and guidelines up to this point, and we continue to look to them for wisdom, scholarship, and research. It is now confirmed that COVID-19 vaccines are effective at preventing the disease in most people, reducing the risk of people spreading COVID-19, and keeping future infections in vaccinated persons at a very low percentage.
Some Northlawn friends are not yet comfortable in public without wearing a mask. Others have not yet been vaccinated, including our children up through age 11. Therefore, we still encourage those of you in these groups to continue wearing masks at church.
Whatever you choose, Northlawn will continue to be a loving, supportive community of faith that is respectful of either choice. It’s our responsibility as the body of Christ to promote unity as we love God and our neighbor.
I personally thank you for your grace and understanding every step of the way as we seek to do no harm, do good, and stay in love with God.
I am grateful for this community,
Pastor Zach McNees
