Family Ministry Director
Northlawn United Methodist Church, Grand Rapids, MI
Part-Time (Average 10 hours per week)
Hourly Pay: $18/hr
A compassionate, inclusive, intergenerational community of United Methodists in Grand Rapids, Michigan are looking for an energetic, driven, community-minded, creative leader to support, implement, and expand the family ministry program of this growing church. This is a 10 hours paid per week position, including Sunday worship, planning, and two monthly weeknight team meetings. The ideal candidate has experience working with children (camp, VBS, Sunday School, Youth Group), inclusive understanding of developmental levels and needs of all children, including neurodiversity and various backgrounds, flexibility and creativity, organization in scheduling volunteers and program planning, and strong interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills. College students are welcome to apply and will be considered. Bachelor’s degree and is a plus but not required.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and supervise Kids Connection and summer programming for kids birth-18
Recruit, train, and lead teen and adult volunteers to teach and assist in Family Ministry programming
Work with the pastor to involve kids and their families in Sunday worship services
Supervise and collaborate with Nursery coordinator to meet needs
Communicate with youth and families individually and online
Provide opportunities for at-home family discipleship
