Taking Your Next Step of Faith

No matter where we are in our faith journey, we all have a next step. As a local church, we find great joy in walking alongside of you as you take it.

...

Baptism

Through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism, "we are initiated into Christ's holy church,... incorporated into God's mighty acts of salvation and given new birth through water and the Spirit. All this is God's gift, offered to us without price."

Baptism is the ordinary means of rebirth and initiation into the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is what starts the process in us of breaking away from the grip of sin and death, given through Salvation in Jesus Christ.

Baptism is open to all, regardless of age or stage, symbolizing the promise of grace at work in all of God's children.

Church Membership

Membership in the local church is a gift from God and a privilege as you pledge to faithfully participate in its ministries through your prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness. Through this connection, you have an entire congregation to walk alongside you in your faith journey, supporting you in love and discipleship.

You can become a member in one of the following ways:

  • Profession of Faith - The first step to becoming a member in the local church is by confessing faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. If you have not yet made the decision to be baptized, please connect with the Pastor or another leader at Northlawn to help you take your next step.
  • Reaffirmation of Faith - This step is through the renewing of your initial confession of faith for those who are not on a church membership roll.
  • Transfer of Membership - You can transfer your membership to Northlawn if this is the faith community that you are committed to participating in and serving with. Whether you're transferring from another United Methodist Church or another Christian church, we recognize Baptism from virtually all other Christian churches. Because you are already baptized, you are asked to make one vow in your membership: "Will you be loyal to the United Methodist Church and uphold it by your prayers, your presence, your gifts, your services, and your witness?"

So What Do I Do Next?

A few times per year we offer Membership classes where you'll learn more about the life and ministry of Northlawn UMC and the United Methodist beliefs. We encourage all prospective members to participate in this class. To learn more about the next class, check back on the events page or contact the Northlawn office HERE.

A Summer/Fall Membership Class is available for Registration.

Weddings at Northlawn

We're honored that you’re interested in having your wedding at Northlawn Church. We look forward to assisting you in every way possible!

The joining of two people in marriage is a sacred ceremony in which you and your spouse-to-be enter into a covenant relationship with God and with one another. By choosing to be married by a Pastor, who is a representative of God, and in a sacred space set aside for the worship of God, you are inviting God's presence to be part of both your wedding ceremony and your marriage.

To visit the church, please join us on a Sunday morning for worship. Let our pastor know in advance of your visit to arrange a brief meeting.
